About Samui
A Tropical Island
Koh Samui island is located in the Southeast of Thailand. It is sometimes refereed as the island of the coconuts because of the large numbers of coconuts exported from here every month.
Koh Samui has several popular and exotic beaches. The most popular and crowded is Had Chaweng and it is located on the East Coast of Samui. Ten kilometers South of Chaweng you'll find the second most popular beach; Had Lamai. Other beaches are Bo Phut, Maenam, Big Buddha and Bang Por Beach.
Dining and Nightlife
It doesn't matter what kind of food you prefer, Koh Samui has it all. Apart from hundreds of very affordable Thai restaurants, you'll find Indian, Mexican, Chinese, Japanese, British, Swedish, German, Mediterranean restaurants and many other diving alternatives here.
Chaweng is the where the nightlife scene is most intense. Here you will find many trendy bars, clubs and a pubs. The most famous and popular discotheques is Reggae Pub (located near the Chaweng Lake) and Green Mango (located in Soi Green Mango, in central Chaweng).
How to get to Samui
There are a few alternative options how to get to Samui island from Bangkok: By train, bus, ferry or flight. Bangkok Airways flies directly from Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok to the Samui Airport.
Intense traffic
If you are renting a motorbike, do always use a crash helmet and do NEVER drink and drive because the traffic is very intense on the island.
